Metro police investigate drive-by shooting in Germantown

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Nashville man escaped death by being in the right place at the right time as a drive-by shooter fired bullets through his home in Germantown.

Alton Archibald woke to gun fire around midnight on Monday at his home near 9th Avenue North and Garfield Street. It’s less than a block from Buena Vista school.

“I jumped out of the bed and we all laid on the floor ’til the shooting stopped and then when the shooting stopped, that’s when I came to the door and I saw all my glass blown out,” Archibald told News 2.

On Tuesday morning, Archibald assessed the damage. Large bullet holes riddled his fence and the exterior of his home. Some of the shots broke glass at the front door and others blew through windows and pierced the interior, including a bathroom and closet.

One of the bullets got lodged in Archibald’s stereo — just short of firing through his bedroom. He said that his family had visited just hours earlier.

“Me and my brother and his wife, they would’ve got killed if they had been sitting at the bar,” Archibald said. “I’ve lived here [for] 40 years and this has never ever happened.”
