Police apprehend teen suspect in triple shooting in Fayetteville late Monday

Three people were shot on Village Drive late Monday and a juvenile was apprehended in the shooting, Fayetteville police said.

According to the Fayetteville Police Department, detectives have submitted a petition to the Department of Juvenile Justice against the 17-year-old requesting charges of attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and possession of a handgun by a minor.

The names of the juvenile suspect and those injured were not released.

The shooting was reported at 11:58 p.m. in the 3300 block of Village Drive, the release said. WRAL reported it happened at Manhattan Deli and Grill, a popular late-night restaurant. An employee who answered the phone there Tuesday said to call back later.

Police said the three shooting victims were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center which is directly across the street from the scene. Their conditions were not revealed.
