Gas leak under control in Andover

BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — The gas leak that caused some evacuations on Andover’s east side is under control, according to Andover Police Department dispatchers.

Butler County dispatchers told KSN News that a gas line was hit in the 400 block of East 13th Street, at or near Vornado, on Tuesday morning.

There were no injuries.

However, several buildings, including the Andover campus of Butler Community College, had to evacuate. Butler Community College canceled afternoon and evening classes at the Andover campus.

A spokesperson for Andover Public Schools said the gas leak did not affect any of its facilities.

During the noon hour, Andover PD dispatchers said the emergency crews were being released from the scene, and people were being allowed back into the businesses.
