When someone asks me why I became a journalist, there are a hundred reasons I could give to explain why I love what I do. What always comes first, though, is that I love people.
It is people and community that fuel my passion for journalism more than anything else. I am always grateful for the opportunity to learn more about a person, why they are who they are, and to provide a platform for others to learn those stories as well.
There is no better way to be a part of a community than to understand the roots and layers of that place. I want to help build that understanding, not just for myself, but for the public.
I am incredibly excited to bring this passion to Green Bay and the Press-Gazette. Even with my limited time in the city, I have already been inspired by the level of community I have found. The people of Green Bay are deeply engaged with their community and I am eager to become a piece of that.
My journey to Wisconsin
I have lived almost my entire life in Michigan. I grew up in Ann Arbor, spent most of every summer up north and earned my bachelor’s in journalism in East Lansing at the incredible Michigan State University.
