These four NC restaurants rank among the nation’s best. Why fans love eating there

Whether you’re in the mood for barbecue or a taste of the Mediterranean, you might find a meal you can’t help but crave in North Carolina.

That’s because the state is home to four restaurants that rank among the nation’s best places to enjoy a meal in 2024. The eateries making the list of “Top 100 Places to Eat in the US:

To create the list, the restaurant review website Yelp said it studied submissions from online users across the country. It chose “the top restaurants by ratings, number of reviews, and volume of submissions, and finalized the rankings with the expertise of our community managers,”

Here are the North Carolina eateries and the reasons why fans love dining there:

  1. Haywood Smokehouse in Dillsboro (#11): Known for its Texas-style barbecue, especially the fan-favorite brisket, Haywood Smokehouse earned praise for its tender meats and tasty sides. This Dillsboro location holds a stellar 4.8 out of 5 stars on Yelp.
  2. Odeh’s Mediterranean Kitchen in High Point (#43): Loved for its shawarma, baklava, and other Mediterranean delights, Odeh’s has garnered a loyal following.
  3. Freeman’s Grub & Pub in Greensboro (#49): For the second year, Freeman’s made the list thanks to its low-cooked brisket sandwiches and popular pub dishes.
  4. The Table in Asheboro (#54): This cafe-like spot charmed visitors with its creative breakfast and lunch classics in a cozy setting.
