A former Upstate Deputy has pleaded guilty after being accused of killing his neighbor. 43 year old Justin Rawlings Moody has been sentenced to more than 30 years for the murder of his neighbor 48 year old, Oscar Rubio.
Moody had worked as a Deputy in Greenville, Laurens and Richland Counties from 2007 through 2018. In May of last year, Rubio’s girlfriend found him dead inside his Greenwood County home.
Witnesses told investigators that Moody and Rubio had been having ongoing issues with each other. Investigators say a funeral pamphlet was found inside Moody’s home that had ” RIP Oscar, you should love your neighbor” written on it.
Moody’s guilty plea was accepted and he was sentenced to 34 years in state prison.
