Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard faces legal battle over unpaid rent as outrage increases over local leadership dispute
DOLTON, Ill. – On a quiet Tuesday evening, Dolton Mayor and Thornton Township Supervisor Tiffany Henyard sat expectantly, hoping to lead yet another township board meeting. But just as with previous sessions, the meeting fell apart before it could even begin.
“Thank you, guys, for coming out this evening. We are waiting to see if we have a quorum,” Henyard remarked, her frustration visible. Without the required number of board members present, the meeting was adjourned prematurely, leaving many in the room disappointed.
Henyard expressed her growing dissatisfaction with the ongoing disruptions: “Our job is to come, pay the bills, pass ordinances and make sure you understand what it is that we have been doing for an entire month. Eventually, we will end up in court, because this cannot and will not go on.”
Yet, Henyard isn’t the only one facing challenges. Her landlord, Genetta Hull, is also at the breaking point over a rent dispute that has dragged on for months.
