Swamp Mart closes after less than eight months on North Main Street, downtown Greenville

Swamp Rabbit Café & Grocery opened an abbreviated version of its City View location in downtown Greenville on April 1, known as Swamp Mart. Less than eight months later, the local food supplier closed at 15 S. Main St.

Owners Mary Walsh and Jac Oliver brought their most popular handmade breakfast, lunch, and snack options to the heart of downtown, offering a menu similar to that at the flagship store located at 205 Cedar Lane Road.

According to a social media update on Oct. 8, Swamp Mart closed during the week after Tropical Storm Helene hit for recovery efforts. By Oct. 18, signs were visibly gone from the storefront, as small remains of branding were still attached to the wall and Swamp Mart stickers were on a cooler—but there was no operational storefront.

This sudden closing comes following President Biden’s visit to the Carolinas two weeks after Helene. His administration took a tour to survey damage to small businesses affected in the Upstate, including Swamp Rabbit Café and Grocery.
