“Our community group is planning an event that reflects a vision for the Oak Ridge community that is inspirational, prayerful, and peaceful,” said Valeria Roberson, one of the event’s planners and member of Oak Ridge Solutions on Race (ORSOR). This group extends an open invitation with expectations that this event will also be multi-generational, a time and place where youth will choose to speak out.
Considering the upcoming elections, this event, ‘A Moment for Unity and Respect in Oak Ridge’ is intended to inspire, invoke and instill unity and respect toward each other as fellow citizens and human beings.
“We invite members of our communities to come together in a commitment to our nation. Neighbors who have endured Hurricane Helene have shown us a fine example of how we can pull together and move forward as a nation,” said Mary Palmer, an executive committee member of ORSOR.
Therefore, it is very fitting that a call comes from within the community of Oak Ridge that invites every person who feels the need to build a bridge across the artificial divide that is part of every election season in this country. The call to participate has been responded to by religious, political and community leaders of our community.
