PUNTA GORDA — A pink boat can be spotted assisting other boats around Charlotte Harbor, and it’s pink for a good reason.
TowBoatUS Charlotte Harbor, a firm that provides assistance to vessels in need on the water, is working to provide assistance to those with breast cancer and create awareness of the disease during October’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Breast cancer hits close to home for TowBoatUS Charlotte Harbor co-owner Kyle Potts.
“We’re doing this cause in honor of my mom, Cheryl, that is a survivor of the disease, and to support Lauren for what she’s going through,” Potts said. “We all went through this horrible disease with her and were affected.”
Cheryl is a 15-year breast cancer survivor while his friend, Lauren, is currently battling breast cancer. Potts and Lauren were once on a tournament angler team together.
The usually bright red boat is wrapped in pink in honor of people like Cheryl and Lauren along with a QR code for donations to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
