A man wearing a sweatshirt with “Crooks” written on it was arrested Tuesday after allegedly stealing an expensive e-bike from a fitness center in Irvine earlier in the day.
The Super-73 E worth about $3,000 was taken from the Los Angeles Fitness on Irvine Boulevard, the Irvine Police Department posted on its Facebook page .
The owner had placed a tracking device on the bike, allowing it to be found several miles away in Santa Ana.
“Our good friends, Santa Ana Police Department, quickly located the suspect vehicle, which had the stolen bike hanging off the back on a bike rack,” Irvine police said.
Irvine police went to the location and took custody of 52-year-old Richard Saucedo of Westminster, who was then booked on suspicion of grand theft.
Police posted an image of the unique sweatshirt the alleged criminal happened to be wearing.
“Stealing a $3,000 e-bike wearing a hoodie with the word ‘Crooks’ prominently displayed certainly makes a bold fashion statement,” police said.
Authorities also suggested other e-bike owners put a tracker on to help police get it back.
