OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) — Owensboro’s Western Kentucky Botanical Gardens will open for one more weekend before adjusting to winter hours. On Saturday, The garden will be open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.. After Oct. 26, the garden’s hours will me Weekdays from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
To celebrate their last weekend of the 2024 season, they’ll give people a look inside the country doctor’s office. It’s only been done 5 times in the last decade. The office belonged to garden owner’s grandfather in the 1900’s.

Several years ago, the doctor’s office was brought in from Curdsville, Ky. Organizers say it’s being developed into a museum quality display.
“We’ll have somebody in the country doctor’s office, from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m., to answer any questions about the history of the House, as well as the tie to the use of medicinal herbs in the early 1900s,” says Laurna Strehl, the Executive Director of the Western Kentucky Botanical Gardens.
Some herbs that may have been used for medical treatment during the 1900’s are grown in the garden.
