Fire departments assist each other due to wildfires in multiple counties

CASSVILLE, Mo. — A Region D mutual aid system has been activated due to wildfires in Barry, Lawrence and Mcdonald Counties.

Nixa, Ozark, Western Taney, Ebenezer, and Logan-Rogersville fire departments, along with the City of Republic are helping each other to contain the multiple outdoor fires in The Ozarks. A staging of the Region D mutual aid system has been set in Cassville.

The Aurora Rural Fire Protection District Facebook page said they have been busy today with multiple outdoor fires including one involving a structure.

“Burning is highly discouraged,” said the Facebook post. “Any activity such as welding, brush hogging, or activity that could start a fire needs to be closely monitored. 911 needs to be called quickly so that the fire can be contained before it grows too large.”
