The 11 pro-Palestinian protesters who barricaded themselves inside a University of Minnesota’s administration building were all released on Wednesday, with one of them facing charges.
The protesters who occupied UMN’s Morrill Hall on Monday were released on Wednesday afternoon from Hennepin County Jail. The protesters were detained on a 36-hour hold, but were released with ten of them still not being formally charged, and posed for photos outside the jail along with a crowd of supporters.
“Our office received 11 case submissions Wednesday morning related to the arrests at the University of Minnesota earlier this week and immediately authorized release from custody pending case review,” said a spokesperson for the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office.
“After review, decisions on felony-level charges in 10 cases have been deferred pending additional routine investigation, including any information connecting specific individuals to specific acts, damages, and costs.
One of the protesters, Isabella Harbison, 23, was charged with one count of 4th-degree assault for allegedly spitting onto an officer’s uniform while being arrested. She has been released from custody, and her first appearance in court will be on Nov. 7.
