PLAINFIELD, Ind. — Police recovered over 180 pounds of methamphetamine and other drugs following a traffic stop this week on Interstate I-70 near Plainfield.
Officers with the Plainfield Police Department were patrolling the Plainfield exit near I-70 Tuesday when they reportedly observed a passenger truck commit multiple traffic violations.
PPD said officers proceeded to conduct a traffic stop on the truck near the 68-mile marker of I-70. During this stop, one of the officers deployed their K9 partner Echo to complete a free air sniff of the truck’s exterior.
The K9 then alerted the responding officers to the possible presence of narcotics emanating from the back of the truck.
Officers observed a black 50-gallon work tote in the back of the truck bed that reportedly contained several bags of suspected methamphetamine. PPD said officers also located a large black trash bag containing a cardboard box.
When officers looked inside the cardboard box, PPD said they found additional bags featuring suspected methamphetamine and other narcotics.
