CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A judge sentenced a man to up 35 years in prison for trying to kill his ex-girlfriend in Cedar Rapids. In March 2024, a jury found Jimmy Prophete guilty of several charges including attempted murder. Court documents say he lured the victim with money and then attacked her with a knife and a claw hammer at an apartment in April 2023.
