A 10-year-old Irvine boy is recovering after he was bitten by a coyote while riding his bike to school.
The attack happened near Portola Springs Elementary School when the boy stopped to take off his jacket Tuesday morning.
That’s when he noticed the coyote had bitten him.
He rode his bike to school before being taken to the doctor to be checked out for a minor skin break.
The Irvine Police Department is warning people to supervise their pets and to clean up fruit that falls from trees because it attracts coyotes.
The city’s animal services unit is working with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to investigate the incident and locate the coyote involved.
