“He makes shots people shouldn’t even shoot” – Damon Stoudamire on Jeff Hornacek after he torched the Blazers

When talking about some of the best shot-makers and scorers in NBA history, the name Jeff Hornacek won’t pop up too often. Sure, “Horny” is far from one of the better players the Association has ever seen, but during his time, the 6’4” shooting guard was as good as it comes when it came to putting the ball in the basket in any way possible.

For instance, after one 31-point night vs. the Portland Trail Blazers, opposing guard Damon Stoudamire couldn’t help but be in awe with the array of shots with which Hornacek torched his squad.

“He makes shots people shouldn’t even shoot,” Damon exclaimed .

“Hornacek was at another level,” Blazers coach Mike Dunleavy confirmed his point guard’s sentiments.

Jeff was the ultimate professional

At first glance, Hornacek was not your typical star. A 6’4” white guy with bad knees and nothing flashy about him didn’t put fear into the hearts of his opponents. However, once the ball was tipped, rivals often learned a harsh lesson.

“The guy’s incredible to me, man. He shoots the ball better than anybody I’ve ever seen. And it’s not just his outside shot – he’ll go to the hole and give you some schoolyard sh*t, too. That’s what really messes us up – we’re like, ‘Damn, did you see this sh*t?'” his teammate Greg Foster said.
