Mexico hands over 84-year-old murder suspect to US

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – Mexican authorities have expelled an American citizen they say is wanted on murder charges in the United States.

The Chihuahua state police on Wednesday arrested 84-year-old Chester G.G. outside Juarez General Hospital after getting information from the U.S. government regarding his fugitive status north of the border, the state police said in a statement.

Mexico on Wednesday turned over Chester G.G. to US authorities at the Stanton Street Bridge. The American is suspected of murder in his home country.

The suspect, identified by local news media as Chester Grant Galloway, was taken to the offices of the National Migration Institute. Immigration agents verified his identity and citizenship, put him on a wheelchair, drove him to the top of the Stanton Street Bridge and turned him over to U.S. authorities.

Authorities did not immediately give details on what state Galloway is wanted, or where and when the alleged murder occurred. It’s also not clear how long the suspect had been in Juarez for.
