Apartment fire in West Haven under investigation

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Investigators are working to determine what caused a fire at an apartment complex in the West Haven neighborhood of Knoxville Thursday afternoon.

A spokesperson for KFD shared that they responded to the scene of the fire in the 2400 block of Piedmont Street after a 911 call was made at 5:33 p.m. When crews arrived, they found heavy fire coming from a two-story apartment building.

Because of the heavy volume of the fire, crews had to use a ladder truck to get the blaze under control. Then, firefighters were able to enter the building and extinguish the fire.

KFD reported that no one was injured, and three dogs escaped the fire.

There were four apartments in the building. Six adults and two children were displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross.
