Authorities issue hundreds of citations in Portland traffic enforcement mission

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Oregon State Police and Portland police joined forces for a traffic enforcement mission resulting in hundreds of tickets and several arrests.

Wednesday’s mission focused on “high-crash corridors and areas that have recently seen tragic traffic fatalities,” a Portland Police Bureau press release said. It’s part of a wider effort to reduce traffic incidents and promote safety on the roads in Portland.

Police said a technique called “Human Vehicle Environment (HVE) analysis” was used in the mission, with the goal of enhancing the safety of people’s lives.

“This approach allows officers to assess not only the behavior of drivers but also vehicle conditions and environmental factors that contribute to accidents. By targeting key problem areas, the mission aimed to raise community awareness of traffic safety while addressing specific dangers present in historically problematic locations,” PPB said.

The mission resulted in one towed vehicle, four arrests, 150 citations, 116 warnings and 189 traffic stops.
