Police have identified the victim of a homicide over the weekend in St. Paul.
Damara Alexis Stowers, 35, of St. Paul, was fatally shot inside an apartment building on the 100 block of Sycamore Street East just after 9 p.m. Saturday.
St. Paul police responded to the incident after receiving 911 calls about shots being fired, and found Stowers inside the apartment suffering from gunshot injuries.
The officers provided first aid until the arrival of St. Paul Fire medics, who pronounced Stowers dead at the scene.
During this incident, a responding police sergeant was flagged down about two blocks away on Acker Street East due to a carjacking in which the victim had been shot, and the suspect took their vehicle.
The carjacking victim was taken to Regions Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and police say that early investigations point to the two events being related.
No arrests have yet been made in either incident.
