Barrio Streetscape Project to Begin Tuesday

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — TxDOT Amarillo announced that the Barrio Streetscape Project that aims to improve pedestrian safety is set to go underway next week on Tuesday.

According to TxDOT, crews will begin the safety improvement project worth $5.9 million on SE 10th Avenue from Garfield Street to Ross Street.

The following improvements to meet American with Disabilities Act requirements include:

  • crosswalks
  • sidewalks
  • lighting
  • shared-use paths to improve the connectivity, mobility, and safety on this stretch of SE 10 th Avenue

TxDOT advised drivers to be cautious and reduce speed through all work zones, and be aware of possible crews or working vehicles on or near the roadways.
