MADISON, Wis. — Badgers volleyball coach Kelly Sheffield continues to build his legacy at Wisconsin.
With Wisconsin’s 3-0 sweep of Indiana in Bloomington Thursday night, Sheffield became the winningest coach in program history with 306 career victories.
The Badgers won the first set 25-23, and the team didn’t look back, as they won the next two sets 25-18 and 25-13.
Wisconsin (14-4,8-1) hit .369 (49 kills-11 errors-103 attempts). Sarah Franklin had a match-high 15 kills, and Anna Smrek had 10.
Wisconsin won the first set despite six service errors, Wisconsin jumped out to a 9-5 lead but Indiana responded with a 4-0 run to tie it up. Wisconsin’s Julia Orzol and Smrek both had crucial kills and CC Crawford had an ace to take a 16-11 lead.
Indiana brought the game within two (21-19) and held off three Wisconsin service points, before the Badgers won 25-23.
Wisconsin on the second set, jumped out to a 7-3 lead and never looked back as the Badgers went up 18-10 at one point before finishing off the Hoosiers 25-18.
