Police: Rockford woman strangles, pulls knife on victim

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Police arrested Marcides Jackson, 32, for allegedly pulling a knife on a woman and strangling her.

On October 23, around 12:45 p.m., officers were called to the 1100 block of Railroad Avenue for an unknown problem. The victim was able to get the attention of authorities to tell them Jackson had attacked her.

A witness told officials he saw the two arguing and Jackson with a knife but did not see them fighting. The witness later provided RPD with video footage of the incident.

Jackson reportedly pushed the victim, grabbed a knife from her car and strangled her. The victim needed to use her inhaler due to difficulty breathing after being strangled for an unknown amount of time, according to court records.

The victim told police a man with Jackson intervened. She and the man fled the scene, reports said.

The suspect was found later by officials and taken into custody.

Jackson is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated domestic battery causing strangulation.
