SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is hosting its 27th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 26.
The DEA and its partners aim to provide safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs while educating the public about the potential for medication abuse.
National Take Back Days are scheduled for the last Saturday of April and October each year.
The April 2024 event resulted in 670,136 lbs. worth of prescription drop-offs across nearly 5,000 collection sites.

Residents can anonymously dispose of unneeded medications between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Local drop-off sites include:
- Bluffton Magistrate Office at 4819 Bluffton Parkway in coordination with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office
- Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office at 2001 Duke St. in Beaufort
- IHS Pharmacy & Gifts at 150 S Leroy St. in Metter in coordination with the Candler County Sheriff’s Office
- Memorial Health at 4700 Waters Ave. in Savannah in coordination with the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office
- Screven County Sheriff’s Office at 202 Rocky Ford Rd. in Sylvania
- Toombs County Sheriff’s Office at 357 NW Broad St. in Lyons
- Wayne County Farmer’s Market at 553 N 1st St. in Jesup in coordination with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office
