Wisconsin fall colors update: Foliage is peaking or past peak in most of the state

Fall color has peaked or is peaking now in nearly all of Wisconsin as of Oct. 25, according to the Fall Color Report posted by Travel Wisconsin.

Only parts of southern Wisconsin and a few other spots remain short of best conditions.

Observers in such northern Wisconsin counties as Washburn, Sawyer, Forest and Marinette report they’re past peak for the season. Door County and Green Bay report peak conditions.

Most of central Wisconsin is at peak color, including Stevens Point, Wausau, Appleton and Manitowoc. Marshfield is at 95%; Fond du Lac, 90%; Oshkosh, 80%; Sheboygan, 55%.

In southern Wisconsin, Washington County (home to popular fall colors destination Holy Hill) and Wisconsin Dells report peak fall color, with Racine County at 95%, Ozaukee County at 90%, Madison at 80%, West Allis at 75%. While Waukesha and Milwaukee are listed at 45% and 40%, those reports are a week old.

Nearly all of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is past peak color, though much of Michigan’s lower peninsula is still at peak, according to michigan.org/fallcolormap .
