In Fairhope, people tend to take Halloween pretty seriously especially when it’s to support a good cause.

“Halloween is celebrated here more than Christmas,” Edwin Fannin, a Fairhope local and Halloween enthusiast, said. “Our first time seeing the witches was two years ago, and there was about three or 400 women riding, and it just blew me away. And it’s a good fundraiser for the Humane Society.”

This year, over 650 participants rode their broomsticks, also known as bicycles, through Downtown Fairhope.

“It’s just a fun time watching everybody ride and watching them run into each other,” Fanin said.

All the money raised at the event goes toward helping care for the animals at the Baldwin Humane Society.
