Before he became the greatest shooter of all time and one of the best players to ever play basketball, Stephen Curry was the often-injured question mark for the Golden State Warriors. The Dubs already had Monta Ellis on the roster, and their eventual commitment to Curry was seen as a horrible decision.
It ultimately worked out, but early on in his career, Curry was injury-prone, missing 56 games in his third season with ankle injuries.
LaMelo Ball, one of the brightest young stars in the NBA, has also dealt with his fair share of injuries, missing 106 games over the last two seasons. He has reportedly taken a page from Curry’s book in an effort to remain on the court.
To combat injuries early in his career, Curry used ankle braces and altered his playstyle. He has always been shifty, but after his ankles deteriorated, he used his hips to create separation, not his legs, which has allowed him to stay healthy for most of his career.
Ball, in an effort to change his injury-prone label, is replicating Curry’s past efforts.
