Klay Thompson called former Warriors’ teammate Draymond Green “the opps”

For the first time in their careers, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are not on the same team. The two future Hall of Fame players were part of a dynasty in Golden State, winning four championships together, but now they are rivals.

Green talked about an encounter with Thompson on his podcast, The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis , saying his former teammate called him “the opps,” meaning he is the opposition or enemy.

“Trav (Green’s trainer) was talking to Ky (Kyrie Irving), and Klay walked up and said oh, you talking to the opps? Don’t be talking to the opps. Trav told me later that day and asked if he was serious. I was like, well, he isn’t serious. That’s just how Klay talks,” said Green .

At first, Green thought it was all fun in games but realized maybe there was something more to the conversation when Thompson doubled down on the comments.

“The next day, I am working out, and now I am talking to Ky, and sure enough, Klay walks up and says the same thing. Come on, Ky, you can’t be talking to the opps. As soon as he said that, I told Trav, now I am going to run through his chest because there is some seriousness to that joke. I know Klay. I have been playing on the same team with this brother for a long time, and I know how he thinks; there is a lot of seriousness to that statement,” said Green .
