Historic Richmond County Savings Bank building preserved Then and Now

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Richmond County Savings Bank was established on October 30, 1886. Initially, it was located in Odd Fellows Hall, West New Brighton, until 1899, when it was relocated to its building on Richmond Terrace. Subsequently, it moved to the current building at the corner of Castleton Avenue and Taylor Street, West New Brighton, 1214 Castleton Avenue. The first officers were Monroe Eckstein, president, and John Westbrook, as documented in a paper from the Digital Public Library of America with contributing information from the University of Wisconsin.
