ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) — High pressure will keep Southwest and Central Virginia mostly dry and warm on Friday. However, a cold front will pass through on Saturday. Spotty showers are possible, and noticeably cooler conditions are ahead.

Layers are key for Friday; the morning will start with temperatures in the chilly 30s and lower 40s, but afternoon temperatures will rise into the mild lower/middle 70s. Expect mostly sunny skies across the region with some late-day clouds.

A cold front will approach from the west for the end of the week. Light rain showers are possible late Friday into Saturday, but coverage will be spotty. The front will pass through Southwest and Central Virginia during the day on Saturday.

A mix of sun and clouds will be overhead on Saturday with breezy winds blowing through. Highs will be in the 60s in the New River Valley and Alleghany Highlands. The Roanoke Valley, Central Virginia, and Southside can expect afternoon highs in the lower/middle 70s.

Cooler and drier air will filter in behind the passing cold front as high pressure builds on Sunday. Morning lows will be in the chilly 30s and lower 40s. Under mostly to partly sunny skies, temperatures will reach the noticeably cooler 50s and lower 60s.
