Roofer stole $36,000 from Gwinnett families, but he already had serious charges against him

A Suwanee man already facing charges in Troup County is wanted in Gwinnett County for allegedly stealing tens of thousands of dollars from victims after he promised them new roofs.

Thomas Bouhan, the former owner of Veteran’s Roofing Company, was charged with additional theft by conversion charges on October 22, according to Gwinnett County police and more charges are pending.

Bouhan, 61, was already arrested last year in Troup County and faces theft, Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and elder abuse charges.

“He should not be allowed to do people this way,” Jerrie Hightower, a Gwinnett County victim, told Channel 2 Gwinnett County Bureau Chief Matt Johnson .

According to a previous arrest warrant filed in March, Bouhan stole nearly $14,000 from Hightower after promising to replace her roof at her Gwinnett County home. Instead, investigators say he never did any work and kept the money.

“I know my money is gone,” she said. “I’m going to live with that. But I hate that anyone else has to go through it.”
