Frederick County Public Schools cheer teams prepare for upcoming competition

FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — It’s the final countdown until the reigning state champions Linganore High cheerleaders compete in their fall cheerleading competition next week.

As competition day draws closer the team is spending as much time as they can to perfect their routine.

“Every bit and piece of it, they’ll be judged on their stunts, the difficulty of them, the technique of them, dance, cheer, overall tumbling and just their technique and difficulty of the whole entire routine,” Head Coach Amy Rumburg explained.

Despite what they call a rough season, the dancers said they are looking forward to showing a routine that is more classic but will still get the crowd excited.

“It is probably one of the most fun routines that we’ve had,” Assistant Coach Jean Davis said. “We decided to go old school, it was something that Amy’s wanted to do, so it’s really fun and we get the crowd into it a lot.”
