EUGENE, Ore. – A woman is dead after being struck by a car that lost control while trying to make a turn on River Road Thursday morning, Eugene police said. According to Eugene Police Department, officers were called out to River Road near Van Fossen Court at about 11:40 a.m. on October 24. Officers said they arrived to find a Toyota Rav4 headed southbound on River Road had failed to negotiate a turn on Van Fossen Court, struck a trash can, and careened into a nearby yard before stopping. At some point during the crash a female pedestrian, identified as Whitney Leigh Woodard, 39, was struck, EPD said.
