Suspect in officer-involved shooting of Memphis police chief arrested

LUBBOCK, Texas — Authorities arrested Seth Altman, 33, on Friday for his involvement in an officer-involved shooting on Friday, October 4. Altman was wanted for seriously injuring the Memphis police chief, Rex Plant, in Memphis, Texas.

Altman was captured by the Childress County Sheriff’s Office in Fort Worth.

EverythingLubbock.com previously reported Chief Plant was attempting to serve a burglary warrant at a residence when Altman ran out of the back door and shot the chief. DPS said Altman fled the scene.

Lubbock judge declares mistrial due to jury deadlock in Murder trial

The chief was taken to a Lubbock area hospital for treatment. DPS confirmed on Monday, October 7, Plant was released from the Lubbock hospital.
