Man found guilty for two armed robberies in Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Devon Keys, 26, was found guilty of two separate robberies where he held his victims at gunpoint.

On October 19, 2023, Rockford Police responded to the 1700 block of Rural Street after a report of an armed robbery. Officers found two individuals who had a gun pointed at them and made to drop their money and belongings on the ground.

On the same day, authorities responded to the 1400 block of Greenwood Avenue, where victims said they were also held at gunpoint and forced to give their belongings and money to a masked man.

Keys then fled the scene on a bicycle. DNA evidence on the bicycle was eventually traced back to Keys.

Keys is facing a maximum of 45 years and is due back in court on November 25th.
