Former Mission Valley hotel to be converted into affordable housing

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Construction work is set to begin next week to convert a former extended-stay hotel in Mission Valley into affordable apartments for people experiencing homelessness.

The rental apartments, which will be located at 2087 Hotel Circle South in place of Presidio Palms, are meant to provide homes for more than 160 people who are currently living in shelters or on the streets, according to a news release from the San Diego Housing Commission Friday.

Presidio Palms is located within a quarter of a mile of Metropolitan Transit System bus stops for route 88, which authorities say provides a convenient way for people to get to the major regional hubs in Old Town and Fashion Valley.
