CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Saturday’s record-challenging heat is being forced out as a cold front moves into the Lowcountry! Our recent string of 80s concluded with afternoon highs reaching 87° at Charleston International, which tied the daily record high set in 1939. This evening will start calm, but we’ll begin to see clouds – and potentially a brief shower or two – build in from north to south through early Sunday morning. As the cold front splits our area, plan for a relatively cooler, but seasonable, afternoon for most; places closest to the cold front should still be able to climb into the mid to upper 70s, but our northernmost counties could stay into the upper 60s and low 70s as thicker clouds and a slightly better chance of showers prevail.
