A 25-year-old woman and her 2-month-old son are dead following an Oct. 25  collision near 2800 South 19 th Avenue, police said.

Kristina Lara died shortly after the crash and late Saturday morning police reported that Josiah Lara succumbed to injuries he sustained.

The crash happened about 1:20 p.m. Oct. 25, and when officers arrived, they found a car with the woman, who has not been identified, and children inside, according to an earlier Phoenix Police Department release.

The woman and infant were taken to hospitals. Three other children were injured. The four children were not restrained in child safety seats, police said.

Preliminary information suggests that a sedan driven by a 23-year-old man was traveling southbound on 19th Avenue. Witnesses describe seeing the vehicle weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed and accelerating on a yellow light when it collided with a  pickup truck, police said.

The truck, driven by a 75-year-old man, was traveling north on 19th Avenue when the driver attempted to make a left turn onto West Lower Buckeye Road, according to the release. The car collided with the front of the truck in the intersection.
