Oregon Area Weather Update: Mild Conditions with Showers and Cold Front Incoming

The National Weather Service in Portland, OR, reports a mild Saturday with scattered showers across the region. As a strong cold front approaches tonight, rain is expected to increase, leading to cooler and showery conditions through Tuesday, along with snow in the Cascades.

Currently, temperatures are in the 60s, although not as warm as Friday. A broad low-pressure trough over the Gulf of Alaska is set to move closer, bringing another wave of moisture later tonight. Rainfall totals are projected to be between 0.35 to 0.50 inches in the interior lowlands, while coastal areas and the Cascades could see up to 1.25 inches.

As the front shifts inland by mid-Sunday morning, cooler air will move in, maintaining showers into the evening. A few thunderstorms are possible due to instability aloft, with temperatures dropping to the 50s. Residents are advised to prepare for wet and cooler conditions as the weather pattern evolves over the next few days.
