Florida Woman Convicted of Murder for Suitcase Death

A Florida jury found Sarah Boone guilty of second-degree murder in the death of her boyfriend, Jorge Torres. The incident occurred in February 2020 in their Winter Park apartment.

Prosecutors accused Boone of suffocating Torres by zipping him inside a suitcase during a drunken game of hide-and-seek. She then hit him with a baseball bat and left him overnight.

Graphic video footage played during the trial showed Torres struggling within the suitcase and pleading for air. Boone’s cold response, “That’s on you,” as Torres gasped for breath, was chilling.

After the verdict, Boone faces up to life in prison. In her defense, she claimed self-defense and alleged that Torres had previously abused her. However, prosecutors refuted these claims, citing her mocking behavior towards Torres in the video evidence.
