CLEMSON, S.C. (WSPA) – An arrest has been made Saturday after reports about an armed individual on the campus of Clemson University.
The Clemson University Police Department said the agency received a report around 3:18 p.m. about an individual with a firearm in the area of Mell Hall.
An urgent CU alert was sent out to the community asking everyone on the campus to avoid the area and shelter in place.
Officers responded to that location, where an individual was taken into custody without incident. Police mentioned that the individual was non-threatening and compliant with officers.
The armed individual was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on university property according to officers.
Their identity has not been revealed at this time.
The incident remains under investigation by the CUPD.
