Ukraine Warns of North Korea Conflict, Seeks More Support Against Russia

Additional Coverage:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned that Ukraine may soon face off against North Korean troops in the ongoing conflict.

Zelenskyy made the comments during an address on Telegram, stating that North Korean forces could arrive “any day now.” He expressed concern that the lack of stronger support from Western allies is emboldening Russia to escalate its aggression.

Earlier this week, Ukrainian intelligence reported that North Korean troops were expected to deploy to combat zones as early as October 27.

Multiple sources, including South Korea’s National Intelligence Service, the US, and NATO, have confirmed evidence of North Korean soldiers in Russia.

The US estimates that North Korea has sent at least 3,000 soldiers to eastern Russia for training. White House spokesperson John Kirby warned that their presence in combat would indicate Russia’s desperation.

On Monday, a South Korean delegation will brief NATO on the situation, with an expected statement from the Secretary General following the meeting.
