Authorities took custody of a small child early Sunday after finding him alone, underdressed and in search of his parents, according to Colorado Springs police.
Officers were dispatched to a convenience store in the 6400 block of Issaquah Drive, near Dublin Boulevard and Marksheffel Road, after a boy, approximately 3 years old, walked into the store just before 2 a.m. Sunday, officials said.
The boy, who was shoeless and wearing pajamas, said he walked out of his residence because his parents were not at home, and he was scared.
Officers checked several residences in the area but could not find the boy’s home, or his parents, police said. The officers contacted the Department of Human Services, which took custody of the boy.
