Silver Lake Sand Dunes crash survivor dies in crash months later

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Family has identified the young man who was killed in a motorcycle crash in Plainfield Township Saturday night.

Josh Vodry, 21, of Plainfield Township, died from his injuries as a result of the crash at Plainfield Avenue and Mark Street . The accident happened around 7 p.m. Saturday, according to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office.

Vodry was riding his motorcycle south down Plainfield Avenue and collided with a vehicle that was turning left onto Mark Street, the sheriff’s office said. Vodry was taken to a local hospital but later died.

It comes just a few months after Vodry nearly died in a crash at Silver Lake Sand Dunes .

Vodry worked at Kaz Transmissions in Plainfield Township, according to his former boss, Josh Kasnowicz. Kasnowicz used to own the shop. For him, it’s like losing a little brother. Vodry became family to him.

“He’s part of my heart,” Kasnowicz said.

Kasnowicz was friends with Vodry’s father, who was fighting an aggressive form of cancer several years ago. Vodry’s dad, Glenn, asked Kasnowicz if he could spend his final days working on cars alongside his son at the shop.
