Veteran groups work together in cookout for hurricane relief

THEODORE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Veterans groups on the Gulf Coast are working together to help bring hurricane relief to areas hit by major storms. From burgers on the grill to veggies in the back, there’s a lot of work happening Sunday at American Legion Post 250 in Theodore.

“Answer the call. Same job, different uniform,” Jeremy Clark with C4 Cattle Company said. “We took time out of our days and lives to help others in need as much as we can.”

C4 Cattle Company and several vet groups including Gulf Coast Silkies Ruck and Warrior Legacy Ranch put Sunday’s cookout together to send more aid to spots in Florida and North Carolina. It’s a task they can’t do alone.

“Programs collaborate, that’s really the single answer, is that collaboration, rather than everybody trying to do everything on their own,” Patrick Jump with Warrior Legacy Ranch said. Veterans here say, in a way, this is an extension of their military service, continuing efforts to serve others.

“It makes me feel good. I like seeing people give to others and. Exactly what we’re supposed to do with everything that’s going on in the world right now. We got a lot of love to give out and their needs right now,” post commander Eli Crawford said. Plates are prepared, in order to raise the money they need to get the mission accomplished.
