Light Showers, Winds Hitting 65 MPH to Strike Southern California; Snow Expected in Mountains

San Diego County residents can expect partly to mostly cloudy skies today, along with cooler temperatures, as a trough of low pressure brings in a shift toward fall weather. The National Weather Service has forecast below-average temperatures for the upcoming week, with increased winds and light showers likely Monday into Tuesday. Strong gusts are expected, particularly through the San Gorgonio Pass, with winds peaking between 40 and 65 mph in desert and mountain areas.

Showers may bring light rain across the region, with accumulations up to a tenth of an inch west of the mountains and in the High Desert, and up to a quarter-inch on coastal mountain slopes. Snow levels could drop to around 5,500-6,000 feet, potentially bringing a dusting to higher elevations. With lows dipping below average, patchy frost is possible in the High Desert by midweek. Additional precipitation is possible next weekend, though specifics remain uncertain.
