WIAA volleyball: Lakeside sweeps Lake Mills to win first regional championship since 2020

LAKE MILLS — The second-seeded Lakeside Lutheran volleyball team earned a WIAA Division 2 regional championship by sweeping sixth-seeded Lake Mills 25-21, 25-9, 25-15 at LLHS on Saturday.

“I am so proud of my girls and how they played tonight,” Lakeside Lutheran volleyball coach Jenny Krauklis said. “Lake Mills is a team that works hard and is able to keep the ball alive. I love the passion my girls had tonight as they were anticipating, reading and letting very little hit the ground.”

This is the Warriors’ first regional title since 2020, when they finished as state runners-up. Lakeside (22-16) fell in the regional final in each of the last two seasons.

Senior outside hitter Ella Schuetz powered the Warriors offensively with 24 kills. Freshman right side hitter Anna Jaeger and senior middle hitter Brooklyn Lenz chipped in six kills apiece. Junior middle hitter Juliet Boche and Lenz both made one block.

Senior setter Addison Kraft tallied three aces while senior defensive specialist Avery Buchta and sophomore defensive specialist Molly Muchka added two aces apiece. Buchta totaled 18 digs while Muchka chipped in 12 digs.
