Early morning fire damages home near Lake Jackson, TFD says

Tallahassee firefighters early Monday knocked down an electrical blaze that damaged a house near Lake Jackson.

The Tallahassee Fire Department responded around 1:45 a.m. to a home on McLeod Drive, seeing “heavy smoke and flames” coming from the home’s garage, a news release said.

“Crews quickly began extinguishing the fire, preventing further damage to the home,” according to the release. “Firefighters searched the structure and determined that everyone was out of the house.”

One person, however, suffered minor burns to the arms and was treated, TFD said, adding that it was assisted on scene by Leon County EMS, Leon County Sheriff’s deputies and Talquin Electric Cooperative.
